Mimmo Paladino's art has in 2011 been interpreted and displayed using the distinctive Piaggio P.180 Avanti II aircraft.
This is the first time in the world an aircraft has been painted by a contemporary artist and the Master Paladino was inspired to create this work of art from the Piaggio P.180 Avanti II because of its unique, unmistakable design. The P.180 Avanti II "Cacciatore di Stelle " (Star Hunter) will be displayed in the breathtaking location of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan from March 28th to April 28th 2011. The metamorphosis of the P.180 Avanti into" Cacciatore di Stelle" recalls both the past and the future, through its decoration with ancestral symbols and possible new ways of communicating: constellations of signs enclosed by geometrical spaces to create a celestial map. This extraordinary artwork in the heart of downtown Milan, will be positioned on a white base which, according to the artist, is linked to the "Montagna di Sale" (Salt Mountain) and the Duomo di Milano. The whole exposition dedicated to Paladino will take place along a 500 meters path, that makes it the longest display dedicated to a contemporary artist. The "Cacciatore di Stelle" is part of the anthological and personal exhibition of the artist Mimmo Paladino hosted by the Palazzo Reale (including more than 50 artworks from the 70's to the present day), which will be enhanced by the renowned "Montagna di Sale" ( 37 meters) that will be placed in the Piazza Reale. According to Mimmo Paladino "Art is not an end in itself, and it doesn't mean yielding to poetic attitudes: Art always implies investigating language". "We are very proud that Master Mimmo Paladino has now been inspired by a Piaggio Aero P.180 aircraft and that he would turn it into a unique work of art."Alberto Galassi, CEO of Piaggio Aero Industries said: "The P.180 Avanti has been chosen because it can be considered a work of art itself, as an expression of Italian genius in design and engineering, that's why this creation is an unprecedented event." The "Cacciatore di Stelle", the Palazzo Reale exhibition and the "Montagna di Sale" were made possible by the appreciation for art and culture by Piaggio Aero, Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna and Meliorbanca. Con información de www.piaggioaero.com LAKELAND, Fla., March 29, 2011 - Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced its new Corvalis TTX high-performance single-engine piston today at the Sun ’n Fun International Fly-In & Expo in Lakeland, Fla.
The Corvalis TTX features new standard and optional equipment, all-new interior and paint scheme options, and the Intrinzic™ flight deck powered by the Garmin G2000. Intrinzic is a Cessna-designed cockpit that incorporates the latest developments in human factors engineering, ergonomics and user experience to create environments that make flying simpler and more pleasurable. “We’ve taken an airplane with incredible performance and made flying it even more natural and instinctive with Intrinzic,” said Jack J. Pelton, Cessna chairman, president and CEO. “At the heart of the new Cessna TTX is the first touch-screen-controlled glass flight deck ever designed for a piston aircraft. The G2000 represents a new generation in advanced avionics — simplified, organized, intuitive. This interface is so advanced, it’s the same as what you’ll find in the upcoming Cessna Citation Ten business jet.” The Intrinzic’s G2000 avionics suite is centered on two 14-inch wide aspect ratio, high-resolution LED displays and an infrared, touch-screen controller. The touch-screen controller reacts to changes in an infrared grid rather than traditional surface resistance sensors for better response under a variety of conditions. The Garmin GTC 570 controller allows multi-function display page navigation as well as audio and environmental control. The MFD, with 1280/800 screen resolution, can be split into two displays to ease pilot workload, for instance displaying maps and approach plates during landing. Standard features include a remote mounted digital audio panel with improved squelch and noise immunity, dual AHRS, a GFC 700 auto flight control system, Garmin’s GTS800 traffic system, Garmin’s GTX 33ES transponder with provisions for ADS-B In and Out capability, and Garmin’s Electronic Stability Protection to help a pilot maintain stable flight and help prevent the onset of stalls, spins, overspeeds and more. The Corvalis TTX also features the L-3 Trilogy glass panel standby instrument system making it the first Cessna piston with no analog instruments. A standard pulse oximeter is available to monitor pilot blood-oxygen levels, displaying the readings on the MFD. Two options include Garmin’s GSR56 Iridium satellite datalink for worldwide weather and voice/text capability (subscription required), and the Avidyne TWX670 lightning detection system. Interior appointments are also enhanced with the Corvalis TTX with four new interior schemes - Stealth, Tranquility, Classic and Twilight - featuring Citation-grade leather. Responding to customer input, the Corvalis TTX is approved for operation with the rear seats removed for more carrying capacity. Cessna is offering two new exterior paint designs and will feature a DuPont Clearcoat application. All exterior designs are painted - no decals. The TTX retains the Corvalis’ title as world’s fastest fixed-gear single-engine piston aircraft, capable of a maximum cruise speed of 235 knots (435 km/h). The four-seat composite aircraft has a range of 1,250 nm (2,315 km) and is powered by a Continental TSIO-550-C six-cylinder, fuel-injected, twin turbocharged engine with dual intercoolers. New for the TTX will be a five-year parts and labor warranty on the engine. Cessna will begin delivery of the Corvalis TTX in 2012.
